High School Ski Scholarships
High School Ski Scholarship 2020/2021 Information
Things have changed. The Palmer Boosters Club has stepped up their support of ski athletes at Valley high schools. Equipment is available through them for any and all ski team members. Due to this, the Mat-Su Ski Club is suspending it’s ski scholorship program.
However: exceptional student athletes that are demonstrably skiing at a level where they would benefit from higher-end equipment may still be considered for a scholorship along the lines outlined below. Scholarship applications are available here and from the High School Ski Coaches.

In previous years The Mat-Su Ski Club provided scholarships each ski season to members of the local high school ski teams.
This function has been mostly superceded by a program of the Palmer Boosters Club, which provides skis, boots, and poles to all members of local high ski ski teams.
Each of the scholarships are for up to $500 to purchase skis, bindings and boots only. Each applicant must be a member of good standing on his/her ski team. The scholarships are based primarily on financial need (40%). Additional criteria include motivation (20%), commitment to volunteer with the Mat-Su Junior Nordics kids’s ski program (20%), and potential for long-term contributions to the team and skiing community (20%).
The equipment passes to the high school’s team ownership after the student racer moves on, thus helping to supply the team’s stock of high-end racing equipment.
