New steps for Junior Nordic registration

This year there are new sequential steps for registration of your child(ren) for Junior Nordics. You will first have to register and pay for a family membership. You can then return here to sign up each child at the links below.

1. Enter your CHILD's  name into the "First Name" and "Last Name" fields.

2. After you complete the fields for your child, you can enter additional children by using the "Add Guest" in the lower left.

How to enter additional kids.

If you do not see a link to a session  below, registration for the session has closed, or you have not registered and paid for family membership yet.

Important: When you click the links for the sessions below, you can register each child sequentially by using the "Add Guest" in the lower left after you enter all the information for the prior child (see graphic above). You can add a Junior Nordic Trail Pin ($10) for each child. You can then pay for your whole family at once.

September 2, 2020 Note. If you somehow did not enter additional children that you wanted to register, just go the session and sign up additional kids like you did the for the first and then use the Add Guest button to enter more than one additional child.

Welcome to Junior Nordics 2020!

2020-Junior Nordic Youth Ski Program.  Mat-Su Junior Nordics (MSJN) provides an opportunity for children to enjoy the Alaskan winter while learning the sport of cross country skiing.  Children of all abilities are welcome to join and learn a sport they can pursue for a lifetime. The emphasis is on fun, fitness, and learning proper technique. MSJN skiers receive instruction in both classical and skate techniques from enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer coaches.  Skiers learn proper care and handling of equipment, trail etiquette, good sportsmanship, and how to act responsibly in the outdoors.  A typical practice session will include a warm-up period, a lesson in a technique, and an appropriate length group ski on the trails, ending with a fun activity.

Who Can Participate:  Youth ages 4 to 16.  Parents must participate with children ages 4 and 5.

Groups.  Skiers are divided into groups based on age and ability:

  • Grizzlies - Advanced (subgroups by color)
  • Wolves - Intermediate (subgroups by color)
  • Otters - Beginners (subgroups by color)
  • Polar Cubs - Youngest (ages 4 and 5), requires parent to attend sessions with child.
Registration.  Registration for the Junior Nordics 2019-2020 season begins September 2, 2019. Participation is capped at 350 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.

Dates & Times.  Regular ski sessions begin January 6 and end March 6, 2020 with three separate programs--Monday & Wednesday evenings 5:30-6:30 pm; and Tuesday & Thursday evenings 5:30-6:30 pm; and a homeschool program on Monday & Wednesday afternoons 1:00-2:00 pm. The evening sessions are limited to 150 participants, and the afternoon session is limited to 50 participants.
