Hatcher Pass Road Update

Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, April 19th, the Department of Transportation plans to start clearing avalanche debris from Hatcher Pass Rd. The road will be closed just above Skeetawk starting tomorrow for about a week.
There will not be any access to the Gold Mint parking lot or Archangel Road until the road is re-opened.
Watch the grooming reports for updates.
We will resume grooming when possible.

Northern Lights Race Series #3 Recap

We had bluebird skies again for our third and final Northern Lights race. The final race was a skiathlon but most people chose to ski it as a relay with one person completing the classic course and handing off to their partner who completed the freestyle course. It was a wonderful afternoon of racing and lots of smiling faces. There was lots of swag handed out for those who participated in all three races and then lots of fun prizes for showing up and skiing.
Thank you to all the skiers that showed up and skied, you all are the reason it is fun to put these races on. Looking forward to next season.

Tentative Grooming Plan

If you like to plan ahead, check out the homepage for a weekly post that includes the tentative grooming plan for the week ahead. This is also a good resource to see the progress of the Department of Transportation snow removal project on Hatcher Pass Road. We are sure you are wondering if we will reach the Independence Mine or Archangel road trailheads this season. Well, stay tuned to find out.

Junior Nordics Ski Return

Hi friends, If you participated in the Junior Nordics program this season, it's almost time to get those skis cleaned and returned. Ski return dates are set for April 27th, 6pm to 7:30pm and on April 28th, 6pm to 7pm at GPRA. The volunteers helping with ski return ask that everyone be sure to sign up for a return slot before heading to the return to reduce wait times. Click here to add your name to the ski return list. There are still several slots open.
Email allison.fry@matsuski.org if you have any questions about Junior Nordics Ski return.

Volunteers Make Every Event Come to Life

Did you know that every Mat-Su Ski Club event and race is only made possible by volunteers. Even the Board of Directors and committee members are made up of volunteers. This group of big hearted folk put in countless hours of their time and energy to bring ski season to life in everything behind the scenes to right before your eyes. Are you a volunteer or have you ever considered lending your time to the Mat-Su Ski Club in some capacity? We want to hear from you and we want to know what interests you. Please email us at info@matsuski.org with your comments or questions.

Skiing the Denali Loop mid day offers a softened surface and excellent grip for this classic skier. Skate skiers report better conditions earlier in the day.
Lots more skiing can still be found at GPRA!
